This low country with its ever changing skies provides many opportunities to an artist. The quiet softness of this landscape begged me to paint some more views of it.

Canals are of course a feature of all Dutch towns. Marilyn and I had two strolls through Gouda and were charmed by this minor city. Aside from the cheese, we had no idea that this place existed. We were delighted to come across this pretty town.

I tried in this piece to distill the quiet beauty of the famous garden. It is almost impossible to take the overflowing colour of the expansive layout as real. This was one of the high points for me of our visit to Holland.
