Scotney Castle

Scotney Castle is now a picturesque piece of sculpture in the centre of a garden in Kent. During our four months in Kent in 1998, we visited this garden several times monitoring the change in the scenery as the seasons changed. Atop a nearby hill, a serious Victorian mansion looks down its nose at this beautiful relic resting serenely in the centre of a small lake. For me, the Trout Pub nearby was an added inducement to return to this pretty spot.

Autumn Begins

Although the full-throated autumn colours are highly prized, there is much to be said for the more subtle pallet of colours that precede full colour. I’ve dealt with that time in this painting in the Bala area.

Boat Ride to Griffith Island

This is the fifth painting in a series that I developed for a member of the prestigious Griffith Island Club. This is the view of the club buildings from the launch that takes us to the island.

Matt Kousal would recognize his style in this mostly palette-knife painting. One of the reasons I changed mediums from oil to acrylic was what I felt as a need to adopt a new style, my own approach to painting. Because of the fast drying quality of acrylics, I was forced to shift my technical approach. I am very glad that I did.
